(Dynon) - We do not have a 480 here so we can't promise anything, but from looking at the manuals:

Edit 22 Dec 2008 by Breister - I have version 2.0 of the GNS 480 software / v5.0 Dynon and NO combination of settings works either for Nav or for GPS using ARINC. Serial works for GPS; there might be a setting which would work for Nav too, but I'm using the other serial line for my 496 and hoping for an ARINC fix. In a discussion with a Garmin field repair tech he recommended some settings (shown in table below) which do not exist in my version of the GNS 480 software. v 2.3 has JUST been released, and requires taking the aircraft to a Garmin authorized repair agent to do the software update and to replace the antenna (the antenna will be provided by Garmin free of charge; expect up to 3 hours labor to complete the upgrade).

So, I will provide an update on this board once I get the GNS 480 updated.

On the GNS 480 side, only Input #2 accepts EFIS command. The HS34 has two sets of pins which will output ARINC, but that is only for convenience because both pairs output the exact same thing so you can use HS34 ARINC output #1 or #2. Only output setting is "Enable."

Final thought: May wish to keep the serial connection for GPS even if the ARINC proves to work with v2.3, as this would provide a backup connection in the unlikely event that the wires somehow failed in flight. This can be enabled / disabled in flight in the HSI setup.
